Preamble
Driving School Standardization Programme (DSSP) is an intervention strategy of the Federal Road Safety Corps, towards the actualization of its vision of creating a safer motoring environment for all Nigerians. As part of its statutory functions, the corps is mandated to educate all road users on the proper use of highways. In line with this mandate, DSSP was established and launched in May 2010, to standardize and create uniformity in driver education and training provided by driving schools for drivers, who have a significant role to play in ensuring safety on the road.
Objectives Of DSSP
- REDUCING ROAD TRAFFIC CRASHES THROUGH STANDARDIZATION OF DRIVING SCHOOLS
- SETTING UNIFORM STANDARDS FOR ALL DRIVERS
- INCULCATING SAFETY CONSCIOUSNESS AND HABITS IN THE DRIVERS

INSTILLING IN THE DRIVERS THE KNOWLEDGE OF ROAD TRAFFIC SIGNS AND REGULATIONS
AND SIMPLE WORKING MECHANISMS OF THE VEHICLES
- IMPROVING DRIVING SKILLS NECESSARY FOR THE JOB
- ENSURING EXCELLENT SERVICE DELIVERY BY DRIVERS
- ENSURING BETTER ROAD SAFETY CULTURE
Scope Of DSSP
The scope of operation, among others are:
- IDENTIFY LOCATIONS OF DRIVING SCHOOLS IN THE STATE
- CARRYOUT INSPECTION OF THE DRIVING SCHOOLS
- REGISTER DRIVING SCHOOLS THAT MEET THE MINIMUM STANDARD

RECOMMEND DRIVING SCHOOLS FOR CERTIFICATION BY FRSC, TRAINING
STANDARD AND CERTIFICATION DEPARTMENT NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS

CARRYOUT REGULAR INSPECTION TO ENSURE THAT THE STANDARD OF THE
DRIVING SCHOOLS ARE SUSTAINED
- ENCOURAGE PRIVATE INVESTMENT IN THE ESTABLISHMENT OF DRIVING SCHOOLS

SANCTION ANY DRIVING SCHOOL IN FORM OF SUSPENSION, WITHDRAWAL OF
CERTIFICATE AND CLOSURE IF THEY FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIRED STANDARDS
